In the UK, in any one year, more than 20% of employed women take time off work because of domestic violence, and 2% lose their jobs as a direct result of the abuse.
Black Country Women's Aid (BCWA) has 40 years of experience in helping women, men and children who are affected by interpersonal violence.
The event will help companies of all sizes and sectors to support staff experiencing the trauma of domestic abuse.
They will:
- Explain the human and business costs of domestic abuse.
- Identify different types of abuse, including financial/coercive/violent/emotional.
- Show how to spot the signs of domestic abuse and advise you on the best way to support potential victim-survivors.
- Recommend the steps that you need to take as an employer to safeguard your staff against this crime.
BCWA’s interactive workshop will be led by a highly experienced learning and development team and will incorporate real-life scenarios and case studies, video content and group work.
BCWA have previously been contracted to deliver similar content by both public and private sector organisations and by doing so again at the business festival, they aim to reach more people in need of support and new corporate partners.
